The move

The hero is a full SVG render of the instrument: walnut cheeks, a cream steel panel, four large and four small knobs each with its own indicator angle, three sliders, six CV jacks, a green patch display and a 37-key keybed - every label set in the mono style Teenage Engineering uses. The spec table quotes tuning drift as plus or minus four cents an hour and calls it a feature, and the order box admits batch five sold out in nine days.

How it was built

The actual MCP calls, in order.

Went straight to search because the reference obviously existed: Teenage Engineering came back first, with Hardware Operations beside it. Between them they settled the entire visual system before a line was written.

Palette, traced

Every token, and the reference it came from.

  • --shell#efe9dcWarm cream ground, the colour of a seventies instrument case rather than a white web page.
  • --orange#e0742cSignal orange on the cutoff and drive knobs, the order button and the filter block in the signal path. The Teenage Engineering move: one hot accent on calm hardware.
  • --ink#26221bWarm near-black for type, the dark knobs and the keybed.
  • --panel#f7f3eaThe instrument's faceplate tone, one step lighter than the page so the render reads as an object on a desk.
  • --muted#82796aWarm grey for the mono panel labels (cutoff, resonance, drift, drive) and spec-table values.
  • --olive#6d6f4eReserved tone that ended up used only in the patch display's phosphor text; restraint left it almost unspent.
