Circuits, not numbers

Six colours. Same on every wall, in every gym.

Follow one colour from the floor to the top. Grades overlap on purpose, so a hard green can feel like an easy yellow. If you can flash most of a colour, it is time to move up.

Green

V0 to V1

Big holds, straight lines, feet where you want them. Your first session lives here, and so do warm-ups for everyone else.

Yellow

V1 to V3

The moves start to matter. Flag a foot, trust a smear, learn what a heel hook is for. Most members spend their first month here.

Orange

V3 to V5

Where projecting begins. Steeper terrain, worse holds, a few moves you will fall off ten times before they click.

Red

V5 to V7

Real power and real footwork at the same time. Sessions become three or four problems, not thirty.

Purple

V7 to V9

Set by our comp team on the 45 and the Harbourside comp wall. Expect to tape your fingers and to book a rest day.

Black

V9 and up

A handful at any one time, changed monthly, and each one has a name. Send it and it goes on the board by the front desk.

Three gyms, one card

Pick the wall that matches your day.

All three open at 06:30 on weekdays for the before-work crowd and stay open till 22:30. Each gym sets to its own personality, so a Wednesday at Easton feels nothing like a Wednesday at Harbourside.

Setting schedule

Something new every week.

1,400

holds come off and go back up across the three gyms every seven days. Each colour rotates on its own cycle, so there is always one circuit fresh and one you have nearly finished.

Setters strip the day before. If your project is on a wall listed below, this is your warning.

Before you come in

The questions we answer at the desk every day.

Anything else, ring the gym nearest you. A human answers between 09:00 and 21:00.

I have never climbed. Can I just turn up?

Yes. Book a £15 taster or buy a day pass at the desk, watch the four-minute safety video, and you are on the wall. Start on green, stay on the mats' side of the marked line, and climb down rather than jumping when you can.

Do I need my own shoes and chalk?

No. Shoe hire is £4, and free for your whole first month as a member. Chalk is free at every gym, always. Trainers are fine for the first session if you would rather.

Can I use all three gyms on one membership?

Every membership works at Bedminster, Easton and Harbourside. Off-peak follows the same hours at each gym. Your card, or the app, gets you through the gate at any of them.

Can I freeze or cancel?

Freeze for up to three months in any twelve, from the app, for free. Monthly memberships cancel with one month's notice. Annual memberships run for the year and can be transferred to someone else if you move away.

What about kids?

Under 18s can climb with a signed form from a parent or guardian. Under 14s need a supervising adult on the mats. Kids club runs at Easton on Saturday mornings and Bedminster on Sunday mornings for ages 6 to 12, £11 a session or £38 a month.

Is there parking?

Bedminster has 30 spaces and 40 bike racks. Easton is street parking only, with a big bike shelter. Harbourside is best reached on foot, by bike or on the harbour ferry, which stops outside the door.

First time here

Your first hour costs £15 and it includes everything.

Shoes, chalk, a 30-minute intro with a coach, and the rest of the day to climb. If you join within a week, we take the £15 off your first month.
